How to wait patiently

I work toward a goal. I come up with what it is that I want and then I think about what needs to happen to get me there.

I do this a lot.

Constantly asking myself what I can do in this moment to move me closer to my dream not only gets me there, but it also makes me feel like I’m doing what’s best for me in each moment I’m in.

Well, I’ve been working pretty hard these last years to reach certain goals and what I’ve really had to learn is not so much the actions I need to get there, but to let it all happen when it does.

What do I mean?

The hard part about putting yourself out there is waiting for a response. Waiting for someone to say, yes, or someone to say, no.

Waiting is the hardest part, because it’s the time we fall back into doubting everything we’ve done.

The more time we have on our hands waiting, the more likely we are to fall into mental spirals that take us down rabbit holes without any hope of finding our way back.

When I start playing the waiting game, criticizing, and emphasizing the negative, I always think about a quote I heard from Gabrielle Bernstein, “Those who are certain of the outcome wait without anxiety.”

Think about that for a minute.

If you are certain of the outcome, if you know that your boss will give you that raise, that the guy or girl you like will want to take it to the next level, that your work will be picked up and you’ll be able to share your talents with the world, well, then, you won’t stress about it.

You won’t stress, because you know, you believe that it will happen.

But here’s the kicker. You know that it will happen and so you let it happen.

You get out of your own way and let it happen.

Sure you don’t know when things might unfold, but you do know that they will. So if you know that they will does it matter when?

For us to reach our goals, we have to learn to wait without anxiety for the answers, and the way to do this … be certain of your outcome.

You might be wondering how to become certain of the outcome. How to believe that it will happen. That trick here is to simply start believing that it will.

The more you believe that it will happen, the more likely you’ll take the steps needed to make it happen. So that by the time it’s there, all you have to do is wait and receive the goodness.

Would love to know your thoughts below on other techniques to use while waiting!!
